Jerry Seinfeld to tell jokes ‘that put him on the comedy map’ in new Netflix special

19. Netflix announced on Tuesday that it will debut the comedian’s new stand-up special on Sept. Jerry Seinfeld wants you to laugh so hard, you’ll stream. The Seinfeld co-creator and star also will help develop comedy programs for Netflix. Titled Jerry Before Seinfeld, the hour-long special will feature Seinfeld telling the jokes “that put him on the comedy map,” from the stage of The Comic Strip, the New York City club that helped to kickstart his career. Jerry Before Seinfeld also will contain previously unreleased material, such as videos from his childhood and the legal pads that contain every joke he’s written since the mid-70s.
Earlier this year, Seinfeld was lured to the streaming service with a production deal that included a new home for his web-series Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, and a pair of stand-up specials. On Monday, Seinfeld shared a photo of himself with the late Jerry Lewis, noting that the pair filmed an episode of Comedians in Cars just a few months ago, and calling it a “comedy life moment.”
