Back in 2011, Grint — fresh off   Harry Potter franchise’s eighth and final film —   starred in the music video for Sheeran’s “Lego House.”   Cameras captured   the first meeting between the two Brits, but   the best snap from that first encounter may be   this priceless side by side photo. They wore   similar hoodies during the shoot as well, but   their   resemblance is still uncanny:

3. Grint appears as Sheeran yet again
On Wednesday, Grint turned the drama up another notch for MTV, enlisting the help of   After Hours   host   Josh Horowitz and some teary-eyed extras, when he pretended to be the Grammy-winning singer. And while   the obvious choice for Sheeran   was to dress up as Ron Weasley, he could also have portrayed Harry Potter. “If someone stops me, it could go either way. But he’ll   soon tackle   some acting of his own: He’s set to guest on   Game of Thrones   in its upcoming season. “It’s kind of 50/50 now,” he told Corden. Here’s our guide to the best moments between   these   two shaggy redheads. Earlier this week, he   performed a   dramatic reading of Sheeran’s pop ditty — and current topper of the Hot 100 — “Shape of You.”

5. Grint’s   Corden appearance
Grint   appeared on   The Late Late Show With James Corden   last week to discuss his role on the new TV series   Snatch   and said that practically half the people who stop him on the street think he’s the singer. 1. As ‘Missing Richard Simmons’ podcast wraps, its creator has a theory about what happened to the fitness guru

That would mean that some or all of the people interviewed for the podcast, who were so worried about their “friend” because he left without saying goodbye, didn’t know he just wasn’t that into them in the first place.”I think you’ve really created more worry and speculation,” Catalano said, implying that the podcast, which Taberski said was intended as a “grand gesture” to Simmons, had made the fitness icon’s life more difficult. Taberski had a few things to say about that in his final episode, in a portion   tinged with   a just a splash of legalese. “He’s 68 years old now and he’s in good health, but he just wants time for himself.”   Lenny was repeating something he had   shared with Taberski   in   the fifth episode of “Missing Richard Simmons”: Lenny and his wife had visited Richard for five days around Christmas, and his brother was fine except for suffering from a cold. Like, way too much. “After 40-some-odd years, he just decided he wanted to rest,” older bro Lenny Simmons told People. READ MORE: Richard Simmons ‘just fine’ according to LAPD wellness check >>As for whether Simmons was being held hostage by longtime housekeeper Teresa Reveles, which was explored in the podcast? “He’s home. “He was Richard Simmons.   (Spoiler alert: If you haven’t listened to the full six-part series and want to experience all of its twists and turns, you should stop reading this article now.)People in a position to know came forward after the podcast went viral earlier this month, Taberski   told his listeners. And he was amazing.” Latest updates “Moreover, from what I hear now, she seems to be doing it well.”Taberski   —   who explained in the podcast that he and others had been very concerned since Simmons didn’t show up at the   Slimmons   studio that day in February 2014 —   has his own theory about what’s up with someone he considers   a friend: Basically, it has to do with how much of himself Simmons, whom Taberski had labeled an “empathist,”   had given to others over the years. They   included the LAPD detective who had done a wellness check at Simmons’ Hollywood Hills home March 10, he said.”Based on all this information, I believe Teresa Reveles is just doing her job,” Taberski said after an I-want-to-make-this-very-clear setup. Also, longtime   manager Michael Catalano told the podcaster, it turns out that many people who came into contact with Simmons —   the one Taberski called that   “short-shorts character” —   may have overestimated the depth and significance of their relationships with him.Ouch. Because he just doesn’t want to be that guy anymore.”And who was that guy?” Taberski asked. Why has he done this? “Where is he?” the podcaster reflected as he wrapped up his final episode. (Richard Shotwell / Associated Press)With the “Missing Richard Simmons” podcast coming to an end, his brother and longtime manager have stepped up to join the chorus of those saying the fitness guru, who hasn’t been seen in public for three years, is fine, fine, fine.Meanwhile, podcaster Dan Taberski   wound up with a conclusion   he hadn’t anticipated when he wrapped up his six-part series Monday, a couple of days earlier than scheduled. He didn’t understand what his brother was doing, Lenny told Taberski, but he had to respect it. “These things about him transitioning to a woman are ridiculous,” the elder Simmons told People —   as he had previously told Taberski —   alluding to   one of the big where-is-Richard rumors that has circulated in the past three years.

‘Deadpool 2’: Michael Shannon top choice to play Cable

Show Full Article The Hollywood Reporter first reported the news. Deadpool 2 is scheduled to begin shooting this year for a 2018 release and is being directed by David Leitch, whose new film Atomic Blonde won raves at SXSW. Many actor’s names have been rumored to be in the running for Cable, from David Harbour (Stranger Things) to Nathan Fillion (Castle), but it appears Shannon is in the lead. The cast of Deadpool 2 is getting closer and closer to being finalized: EW has confirmed that Michael Shannon, recently Oscar-nominated for his role in Nocturnal Animals, is currently the top pick to play Deadpool’s sidekick Cable in the Fox sequel. Fox had no comment. Star Ryan Reynolds previously announced via social media that Atlanta star Zazie Beetz would be playing Domino in the film.

Helen Hunt: ‘I was horrified’ working in Hollywood after ’Shots Fired’

Created by Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood, the Fox limited series examines how two racially charged shootings force long-festering tension in this small North Carolina town to the surface. Given the show’s subject matter, the   Shots Fired creators leveraged their power to make sure they had a diverse group of directors. on Fox. The Episodic Television Diversity Report released by the Directors Guild of America revealed that of the 4,000 episodes produced for television in the 2015-2016 season, only 17 percent were directed by women and 19 percent were directed by   minority men and women. Shots Fired ruined other projects in Hollywood for Helen Hunt. “When I went back to work on shows after, I was horrified that I show up all the time on these sets where there’s one [or two] black crew members and rarely a black director on great shows made by smart, progressive people.”
While some strides have been made, there’s still work to be done. “We wanted to make sure that half of the directors were female, given that we were in a position of power. “I’ve never worked on a show where above the line and below the line, there were more people of color,” Hunt tells EW. In addition to Prince-Bythewood and Bythewood, the show’s episodes were directed by Millicent Shelton (The Flash, Scandal), Kasi Lemmons (Black Nativity), Malcolm D. 6 DGA members say no more panels #JustHire #ShotsFired

Shots Fired—which also stars Sanaa Lathan, Stephan James, and Stephen Moyer — airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. What   made this a unique experience for Hunt, who plays Governor Patricia Eamons, was the level of diversity behind the camera. It’s up to you to fix it if you’re in any kind of hiring position,” she says, noting that Ryan Murphy, whom she just worked with on   Feud, is “really putting his money where his mouth is in terms of hiring women.”
“We’re still asleep — not that I don’t love all of these white guys that I work with, but wouldn’t it be nice to have black women around and men,” she says. Hunt, who recently directed an episode of This Is Us,   remembers one day on set where she found herself standing with five other members of the DGA (see the photo below), which drove home the point that panels aren’t the solution; the only way to promote change is to just hire.

Box office preview: ‘Beauty and the Beast’ to topple newcomers

Power Rangers – $36.5 million
Bowing at   3,693 sites this Friday, the Lionsgate/Temple Hill actioner   Power Rangers   is looking to draw in both fans of the original Fox Kids action series and new fans alike after netting a fresh, diverse young cast (recording artist Becky G, British actress Naomi Scott, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl star RJ Cyler) to take on the roles of teenage superheroes in the show’s contemporary reboot. EXCLUSIVE: Watch Beauty and the Beast come to life in new behind-the-scenes video
2. Expect Kong to tally another $12 million-$15 million through Sunday. Additionally, the sports drama Slamma Jamma —   about a former basketball star attempting to reclaim his former glory after he’s wrongfully accused of a crime — could crack the top 10 as it enters wide release in the coming days. Logan – $8.5 million
Heading into its fourth week in wide release, any domestic grosses the final Wolverine spin-off makes this weekend is icing on a well-dressed cake. Two weeks after it stormed North American screens to the tune of $61 million, Legendary and Warner Bros.’ latest entry in the decades-old King Kong franchise has cooled significantly and will dip even further as new titles (Power Rangers, Life) clamor for similar demographics. 3. As Power Rangers and Life   open, expect Logan to drop below $10 million this weekend. With formidable competition crowding theaters this weekend, look for Life to make a soft (but promising in context, nonetheless)   $17 million this weekend. Kong: Skull Island – $14 million
How the mighty have fallen. audiences   and in international markets atop long legs in the weeks ahead. The film has made a whopping $525.3 million worldwide, making it one of the top-earning films among the X-Men   series. Thanks to an aggressive marketing campaign and pre-established fan nostalgia likely fueling strong word-of-mouth across the film’s theatrical run, expect   Power Rangers to debut above $35 million. Beauty and the Beast,   a contemporary reimagining of the 1991 animated classic, wages a battle against   the latest   Power Rangers   movie, inspired by the 1993 television series,   as a slew of fellow newcomers (sci-fi thriller Life, adult comedy CHiPs,   basketball drama Slamma Jamma) gun for spaces among the top 10 this weekend. Written and directed by Shepard, the film also boasts supporting performances from Maya Rudolph, Adam Brody, Justin Chatwin, Kristen Bell, and Vincent D’Onofrio. Check out EW’s March 24-26 box office predictions below. 1. Given the film’s intriguing premise, effective marketing, positive reception (it   received warm reviews at its SXSW premiere earlier in March) and bankable star power, Life   should perform well with U.S. Life – $17 million
At $58 million, the Jake Gyllenhaal/Ryan Reynolds sci-fi thriller   Life   boasts a sizable budget for its modest industry expectations, which currently hover around $15 million-$20 million. Multiplexes are serving some serious ’90s nostalgia this weekend, as the domestic chart is expected to be ruled by two titles adapted from two of the decade’s foremost pop cultural hits. Show Full Article Beauty and the Beast – $95 million
After roaring to a record-breaking $174 million last weekend, Bill Condon’s live-action Beauty and the Beast remake faces little competition across its sophomore frame and will   easily claim the box office throne yet again. 5. Elsewhere, the big screen adaptation of CHiPS, starring Dax Shepard and Michael   Peña, drives into approximately 2,700 locations, poised to earn roughly $8 million-$10 million over its debut weekend. The Woody Harrelson/Laura Dern comedy Wilson, from The Skeleton Twins director Craig Johnson, opens at approximately 250 theaters Friday, and should post a decent number across its first three days. While big-budget tentpoles typically shed between 50 and 60 percent of their opening number, broadly appealing titles from Disney   tend to buck that trend; as the buzziest title on the market,   Beauty and the Beast will likely fall in line with the 40 percent-50 percent drops of its studio sisters, like 2014’s Maleficent (50.6 percent), 2015’s Cinderella   (48.5 percent), and both Finding Dory (46 percent) and The Jungle Book (40.4 percent) from last year. 4.

Hear the full version of John Legend’s ‘Underground’ song

After previously appearing in Underground‘s   season 2 trailer, “In America” is now available in its entirety. Most people are used to hearing more classical or roots-y music when they see period pieces, but we wanted to make an explicit choice to be a bit more bold with this series, and I think it’s paid off.”

The third episode of Underground‘s second season airs tonight at 10 p.m. For one, he’ll appear in the show itself as legendary abolitionist Frederick Douglass. After helping produce the first season of WGN’s   Underground, John Legend is taking on a few more duties in the abolition drama’s second season. Legend recently discussed   Underground and its music with EW. The trailer had focused on the parts of the song describing the American dream and the idea that anyone can make it “in America” —   playing it over scenes of slaves being worked and beaten, to emphasize the hypocrisy. “It adds urgency,” he said. But he’s also contributed an original song, “In America,” to the soundtrack. Listen to “In America” below. on WGN. The music helps with bridging that gap in some ways. “Sometimes it’s hard to convince modern viewers that something that happened 150 years ago is relevant to them. It was a bit of a risk, because we knew some people would be jarred by the juxtaposition of modern music in a period piece. The full version, though, steadily builds from that beginning and eventually reaches a more hopeful chorus that wonders whether “we can build the dream.” Fittingly, the cover art depicts the sun peeking out behind the clouds over a tree-lined, could-be-antebellum landscape.

‘Grey’s Anatomy’: Jo’s husband may finally get introduced

I don’t know how it’s going to go for him. They’re still married, Alex is still in love with Jo, he wants to marry her, so that’s going to have to come to rest, that whole situation.”

After he nearly ended up in prison for beating up DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti), would Alex take the high road with Jo’s ex, even though this man abused the woman he loves? Though Jo has been hiding from him this whole time, if she ever truly wants to be rid of him, she’ll need a divorce (or annulment!), meaning there’s a good chance he could soon come into the picture. Nice guys often finish last, so we’ll see.”
This time around, however, it doesn’t look like things will get physical between Alex and DeLuca in the aftermath. “I would think he would be a little more cautious, but Alex always does things unpredictably, so we’ll see what happens,” Chambers says. It gives us great story.” In fact, it’s potentially such a rich story line that Allen adds, “It can go all the way into next season, I can tell you that.”
RELATED: The Biggest Stars You Forgot Were on Grey’s Anatomy
The question remains whether Jo is actually ready to face her ex, or if Alex may put her in that position himself — after all, if he does want to properly propose, he could try to track down the man himself. “I think DeLuca is just going through a little spell, he just has a crush on her. “I don’t think he’s going to beat him up again,” Chambers says. As revealed at the close of season 12, Jo Wilson (Camilla Luddington) could not marry Alex (Justin Chambers) because she was already wed to an abusive man, whom she ran away from, changing her name in the process. “Or maybe the guy comes back. In the meantime, DeLuca will finally come to terms with his feelings for Jo, which should stir up new drama in the wake of last year’s finale. “There is a chance, a big chance,” executive producer Debbie Allen tells EW. There’s plenty of fish in the sea. “Possibly yes,” Chambers says. “He has tiptoed around how he feels about her, but he hasn’t directly said it. By the end of the season, we’re going to see him confront her and his feelings. He’s still out there. I don’t know yet. Show Full Article “The whole season has been teasing at that,” Gianniotti says. Grey’s Anatomy airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. “It’s the elephant in the room, the one piece that we have not been able to fit into the puzzle of why they have not been able to get married, what she’s been holding back and what she’s been dealing with. ET on The CW. The Mikaelsons will always find a way. According to the trailer, Hope will find herself at the center of a new, very dangerous mystery. That’s the message behind the newest trailer for The Originals season 4, which shows Klaus’ reunion with his siblings and, most importantly, his reunion with his daughter, who’s eager to learn about the father she’s only heard about for five years. The Originals airs Fridays at 8 p.m. RELATED: The 20 Best Episodes of The Vampire Diaries

‘Missing Richard Simmons’ podcast ends with more questions than answers

It resurfaced old tabloid rumors that the fitness guru   has denied — like that he’s depressed or being held hostage — and spurred a recent welfare visit to Simmons’ home by the LAPD.
Taberski never connected with the 68-year-old — he’d been hoping to tape a bonus seventh episode featuring Simmons — and offered listeners this final note in the finale episode: “The longer you stay in isolation, the world goes on without you. Perhaps you do.”
Dan Taberski
When Simmons   first launched, it immediately garnered comparisons to Serial, the hit 2014   whodunit that evolved in real time as reporters tried to figure out whether Adnan Syed, a   high school student convicted of murder, was actually guilty. Though public hype is at least partly to blame, the fact remains that listeners anticipated a happy ending – but Simmons, like   Serial before it, ended with more   questions than answers. (He’s “fine” and appears “healthy and fit,” according to a police officer.) In the finale episode, Simmons’ own manager, Michael Catalano, told Taberski, “I can’t say Richard feels better as a result of the podcast. The show was lauded by some for revealing Simmons’ empathic nature (he used to call hundreds of strangers in need of a friend) and criticized by others for being intrusive and unkind. Like Serial,   Simmons centered around an   exhaustive search for the truth and   became major dinner-party-debate fodder. And maybe for Richard, that means freedom.”

Show Full Article Now that Missing Richard Simmons   has concluded its six-episode run, its finale is   drawing even more comparisons to   Serial, and not in a flattering way. The abrupt disappearance worried fans and confidantes alike, including former Daily Show producer Dan Taberski, a onetime friend and host of the podcast, which tracks his quest to find Simmons. For six weeks, millions of listeners were captivated — or repelled — by the podcast   Missing Richard Simmons, with good reason: The eccentric pop culture figure with a multimillion-dollar fitness empire vanished from the spotlight in 2014, opting to live a more private life in his Hollywood Hills mansion.

Five ‘Gong Show’ moments that captured Chuck Barris’ gonzo magic

The three men performed   before throwing themselves on the floor to wriggle   like their namesake. The WormsPerhaps the most absurdist of all the “talent” that found a home on   “The Gong Show” was a group called the Worms. The Unknown ComicLike Gene, the Unknown Comic (Murray Langston) made several appearances on “The Gong Show,” telling crummy jokes while wearing a paper bag over his head. Oingo BoingoIn 1976, the Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo, the band that would eventually become Oingo Boingo   and which featured future Oscar-nominated composer Danny Elfman, won its episode of “The Gong Show.” It proved   that while most of the show was ridiculous, true talent did lurk   in the hearts of some contestants. That said, their performance also included a dragon costume.5. Barris always seemed   tickled by the bit, coming out for each performance to yell, “One more time!”4. Latest updates 3. An NBC stagehand whose backstage dancing caught Barris’ eye, Gene Patton was a recurring sensation, whose dancing to an arrangement of Count Basie’s   “Jumpin’ at the Woodside” never failed to bring the audience, judges   and Barris joy.2. Hillary CarlipBut the best moments on the show always came when true talent met off-the-wall personalities, as it did with   Hillary Carlip’s juggling and singing. Gene Gene the Dancing MachineGene Gene the Dancing Machine was a “Gong Show” staple. Here are five moments that perfectly exemplify the wacky weirdness of “The Gong Show” and its maestro.1. Carlip, like “The Gong Show” and like Barris himself, showcased the wonderful weirdness of America. Chuck Barris, host of “The Gong Show,” died Monday at age 87. In front of a panel of judges, they competed to win the grand prize of $516.32 (rumored to be the Screen Actors Guild’s minimum daily wage for the time)   and to avoid being gonged   off the stage.Steering the ship was Barris, who understood the show’s gonzo, kinetic aesthetic enough to know whether it was better to nudge a contestant into deeper waters or let them run themselves aground. (NBC)Whether you saw “The Gong Show” when it was on the air, through reruns, or simply remember it as a cultural artifact of the 1970s, it was clear that what made the show special was the ringleader of the circus, Chuck Barris.Barris   died Monday at his home in Palisades, N.Y.,   at the age of 87. The man under the mask (or bag) would find his set inevitably brought to an end by Barris throwing him off the stage. “The Gong Show” was a product of its time, the late ’70s, and featured contestants showcasing their talent (or, in some cases, lack of).

‘Power Rangers’: EW review

You can tell that she knows exactly what kind of film she’s signed up for and she’s decided to have a ball with it. In fact they, all feel like teen archetypes lifted right out of The Breakfast Club. Set your expectations low enough and you might just be entertained. Back in the ‘90s, this squad of candy-colored teen superheroes became a kids TV hit on Fox despite its slightly schlocky production values and timelessly chipper theme of all-for-one-and-one-for-all teamwork. character stuff wrong and the second-half smashy-smashy action stuff right. The first is a surprisingly fleshed-out team-assembles origin story that brings together five high school kids who are all troubled in their own way. During her quest, she will summon a humongous gold beastie called Goldar. What’s old is new again…again. As they work through their issues, they finally gain the ability to morph, which means that they get sausage-cased in spandex Power Ranger uniforms and Daft Punk helmets and are each handed their own dino-truck vehicle called “Zords.” For those scoring at home, the five Zords can be combined to form one giant Megazord. It’s been given a spare-no-expense makeover replete with slick CGI effects and big-name stars giving the sort of broad performances that remind you that everyone has to work for a living. It’s also essentially two movies in one. If you had asked me back then if anyone would want to resurrect the Power Rangers 20 years later or, frankly, even remember them, I would have laughed. Most movies like Power Rangers get the first-half Y.A. Which, come to think of it, is pretty much how anyone should approach this movie if they want to have a good time. This one does just the reverse. The first thing to know about the new Power Rangers is that it’s no longer a cheapo proposition. B–

Show Full Article It takes its time (and then some, frankly) letting you get to know these kids as they cross paths, discover five color-coded power stones that give them superhuman powers, and come face to face with Zordon (a digitized Bryan Cranston), a 65-million-year-old alien who hands them their fate-of-the-universe mission. Cranston’s Zordon tells the teens that an evil fallen Power Ranger (think Darth Vader) named Rita Repulsa has been reawakened from way back in the day and is about to destroy their peaceful seaside town of Angel Grove (and the rest of planet Earth) in her search for the coveted all-powerful Zeo Crystal. All that’s missing is Simple Minds on the soundtrack. You’ll want to tuck this away for later. It’s still schlocky, but not intentionally so. But here we are. Following in the childhood-exhuming footsteps of Transformers, 21 Jump Street, and now CHIPS   (or, if you’re old-school, CHiPs), comes Hollywood’s latest high-risk wager on low-brow nostalgia, Power Rangers. A cackling sadistic crone with a sweet tooth for gold and insult comedy, Banks’ baddie gives the leaden fight scenes some adrenalin and winking humor. It’s all gibberish, really — blockbuster Mad Libs where you could easily substitute “Zeo Crystal” with “Infinity Stone” and “Goldar” with “Apocalypse” or “Kraken” or “LEGO Joker.” The only thing that makes this battle-heavy second half orgy of green-screen destruction remotely interesting is Elizabeth Banks’ Repulsa. Not surprisingly, a few of them meet for the first time in weekend detention. There’s Dacre Montgomery’s Jason (Red Ranger), the school’s star quarterback with authority issues; Naomi Scott’s Kimberly (Pink Ranger), a repentant mean girl ex-cheerleader; RJ Cyler’s Billy (Blue Ranger), a picked-on brainiac who’s on the autism spectrum; Ludi Lin’s Zack (Black Ranger), a wild child with a soft chewy center and a dying mom at home; and Becky G.’s Trini (Yellow Ranger), the new-kid-in-school loner who fills the Ally Sheedy role. Did I mention he has a sassy robot lackey named Alpha 5 voiced by Bill Hader?

James Gunn unveils psychedelic new ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2’ poster

Yondu’s head dominates the image, suggesting the Ravager leader will indeed have a bigger role the second time around.
