Chorale concerts sum up the season with joy and peace

“A Family Christmas Spectacular” arrangement, along with a very upbeat “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” topped off the evening.Kristen La Madrid on piano, along with guest violinist Kathy Ogilvie, percussionist Leland Beach, and flautists Matthew Womble and Cody Jones, were also highlights of the evening. The Hot Springs Village Chorale’s Christmas season concerts, one at Garvan Gardens chapel and most recently at the HSV Woodlands auditorium, seated nearly sold-out audiences. Under the direction of Ellen Nagode, a variety of classical and spiritual numbers was presented, including new arrangements of “Angels from the Realms of Glory” and “Mary, Did You Know.” The second portion of the program was primarily secular melodies, including “Swing into Christmas,” a medley of 40s rhythms. Greg Nagode joined La Madrid for two four-hand piano numbers.Featured soloists were Trisha Jones, Kay Klemsz, Fred Kalsbeek, Maureen Morgan and Jim McKeand. The Chorale will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a special spring concert scheduled for May 2.
